Hanslope Care - the leading provider of complex healthcare services in Hanslope and the surrounding villages.
The story behind Hanslope Care
When dad got bowel cancer, CODP and arthritis we couldn’t find the right agency to support, and mum really couldn’t cope. The solution was to do the care ourselves, my sister Vicky, my nephew Luke would pitch in and we worked as a team to keep dad safe and well, whilst supporting mum to have her free time.
Hanslope Care was founded and developed to offer the same level of support that Vicky, Luke, and I gave to our late parents Pete and Yvonne Luck.
We often find that the next of kin gets forgotten, we know from our own experience that clients come to us as belonging to a wider network and if the NOK cannot cope the care isn’t working as it should.
Since these early days we have moved on from delivering ‘social care’ a term that refers to personal care services only to supplying complex healthcare needs. The transition was long and hard and we are constantly learning.
Janine Moore’s background is not care, for over a decade she served as a frontline police officer. These informative years shaped Janine’s perception of care as ‘community service’ and the old fashioned, ‘honesty’ ‘integrity’ ‘courage’ underpins her approach to business and life.
Janine did not plan to own a care agency, it was a serious injury acquired in the line of duty that caused her to rethink her life and career, and as part of her recovery a medical professional suggested she attended a night class with continuing education.
With a lot of encouragement from family Janine applied to study at ‘Oxford Proper’. She was fortunate enough to win her place and she read modern history alongside some frighteningly clever young people under the tutelage of Rowena Archer, who become her role model, mentor, and inspiration. Without Rowena’s support and encouragement Janine would never have thought she could set this business up from scratch by herself. Janine achieved a 2i
Janine Moore gained her NVQ 5 in Adult Health and Social Care at the same time, and was granted her Care quality Commission License but, she always felt this wasn’t enough support, and even though skills for care is an excellent resource she has found herself back at Oxford University on the new translational health science course.
Translational health science is about applying best practise on the ground, there is often a gap between legislation, theory, intention, and best practise. It is in that space that Hanslope Care works hard to remove barriers and excel. We are not perfect, but we will always work hard for the people we serve.
Hanslope Care is now a team of thirty dedicated and committed people all working towards providing the best possible care for our locality and we are always seeking new ways to improve and diversify.
